Having two children of our own, we are always on the look out for entertainment and fun family activities in Le Marche. Here are a few suggestions that will keep even the most active families busy. For the more adventurous, click here.

Adventure Parks

Near to Norcia and Visso in the heart of the Sibillini Mountains is an adventure playground with zipwires, climbing and loads of excitement for all ages. There is another adventure Park in Cingoli in the heart of Le Marche, a wonderful town worth visiting in its own right for its views, architecture and lake, this adventure park makes it a trip for the whole family.

Biking

Thirty minutes from the villa you can hire bikes. Everything is included in the hire cost, including helmets, the car rack, water bottles and locks. For a great day out check out the guided bike tours of varying degrees of difficulty - from easy up! Everything is taken care of and you will experience the natural beauty of this region first hand.

Family fun on the Adriatic Riviera

If you travel from the villa to the Adriatic coast of Le Marche there are many resorts to choose from, all of which are geared up for a family day out, and have sports and activities actually on the beach, plus boat hire and hot showers. For example, Civitanova Marche has at least 4 large swing parks with amazing climbing frames and Numana has go-karting, trampolining, ball parks and other activities that attract both younger children and teenagers.

Horse Riding

There are two local places for horse riding. Guided or solo horse riding from 1 to 4 hours or itineries of up to 3 days are available at the local le querce agriturismo. Alternatively, group treks or private lessons can be arranged at a centre near beautiful Lago San Ruffino (San Ruffino Lake) near Amandola- il Centro Ippico S. Lorenzo tel 0736 847053.

Hot Air Ballooning

Arrange the trip of a lifetime in a hot air balloon- take in breathtaking scenery of the mountains, lakes, medieval hilltop villages and the sea beyond. They take off from San Ginesio so you won’t have far to go. For more information visit http://www.ballon.it/.

Local Fun

If you can drag the children away from the villa and the pool, the local town of San Ginesio has a good childrens playground, football pitches and tennis courts. There is also a large lido which many Italians use in the summer.

Outdoor activities for kids

Our Villa lies on the edge of the Sibillini National park which is a paradise for family walking holidays, cycling holidays and family skiing holidays. There are kayaking courses on a local lake, white water rafting through a canyon and many other possibilites for fun mentioned on our sports and extreme activities page. The local parascending school cater for tandem jumps with tourists and are happy to take children for a flight.

Quad Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Pedaloes & Canoes

If you fancy something more active than the beach or lunch at the local trattoria, you can hire bikes, canoes or pedaloes or rent quad bikes at the picturesque Lake Fiastra, 40 minutes away in the mountains. Or try more quad bikes, truffle hunting and a wine tour!

Skiing & Snowboarding

Forty minutes from us is Sassotetto, the main resort for Le Marche skiing and snowboarding, its an ideal Italian ski resort for beginners or for those who need a ski weekend. The ski resort has 10 drag/chairlifts, 9 pistes plus off piste action available. At this Marche ski resort there are a couple of restaurants, ski, snowbaord & boot hire plus ski pass sales. There is a regular bus service from Sarnano to Sassotetto so you can combine your ski holiday in Italy with sightseeing and culture. Spa and Treatments

Just 10 minutes from us is the Shambala Country House & Spa. Christine and Peter offer a wide range of wonderful treatments which will leave you feeling relaxed and with a sense of well-being. From personal experience we highly recommend giving them a call to book a treatment!

Swimming

Our swimming pool is 10 metres long and has a stunning view of the countryside. Swimming is also available locally at Lake Fiastra, which has beaches and restaurants, in San Ginesio at the lido and at the great beaches on the coast 45 mins away. Tennis

There are municipal courts in San Ginesio so remember to bring your racquets.

Waterparks

Verde Azzurro waterpark is 90 minutes away in Filottrano and offers families a day filled with pools, rides and slides. For a bigger water park with more white knuckle rides try Onda Blu Water Park which is one hour 40 minutes away in Tortreto.

Wine Tasting

Saputi. 15 minutes away, Azienda Agricola Saputi has a great range of reds and whites, all locally grown and produced.

Il Pollenza. 30 minutes by car, Il Pollenza has a superb blend of traditional Italian grapes with Merlot and Cabernet and others for €1.50/Ltr, aged bottles from €3.00/Ltr, including a sweet Sauvignon Blanc.

Villa Forano. About an hour away, Villa Forano has great Rosso Piceno, aged Sangiovese, Colli Maceratese, all at €1.50/Ltr, Lacrima and big robust Bulciano. Yum.
