Sarnano (16 km) is a perfectly restored little town that sits on a hill while Amandola (27 km) is noted for its antique tradition of ebony furniture and marquetry artistry. The cultural art-town of Macerata (37 km) draws many people to see the the open-air opera festival (July/August) in the 7,000 seater Sferisterio - a monster of a Neoclassical arena.
Urbino (above) is 2 hours away and remains one of the most important towns in Italy for great Italian art and architecture. Its historical center now boasts the honour of being included in the list of World Heritage Sites, and the Ducal palace is a must-see. Also on that list is the Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi (St. Francis) in Assisi which is 95 km from us.
